A cape announced by accident

Most capes get a coordinated reveal. This one leaked out of Mojang's own account. The design

The cape shows a charged creeper face - the electric, light-blue variant created when lightning strikes a creeper - glowing against dark navy fabric. Charged creepers are one of the rarest sights in survival Minecraft, which makes the motif a fitting choice for a limited event cosmetic. Among recent event capes, it is one of the boldest designs Mojang has shipped, and it reads clearly even at a distance in third person, which is exactly what collectors want from a cape they plan to actually wear.

How to earn it in person at Gamescom

Gamescom 2026 runs August 26 to 30 in Cologne, Germany, and the in-person route will almost certainly follow the template Mojang used for the Crafter Cape at TwitchCon Rotterdam in May 2026: complete Minecraft activities around the venue, collect proof of participation, and trade it at a Minecraft booth for a one-time redemption code printed on a card.
